68th World Military Pentathlon Championship

World championships in military pentathlon have been held annually since 1950. The sports facilities on the Military Academy campus have hosted the Military Pentathlon World Championships on seven previous occasions — in 1973, 1978, 1986, 1996, 2006, 2016, and most recently in 2018—making this the eighth time the event is being held there. The existing sports facilities — particularly their close proximity to one another — combined with the campus infrastructure for accommodating and catering to competitors, make Wiener Neustadt an ideal and highly popular venue for military pentathlon competitions, whether at the national, regional, or world championship level.

The organizing team succeeded in creating optimal conditions for the competition and the event as a whole. They managed to leave a very positive impression on the participants by combining friendliness and composure with the precision and discipline required for a World Championship. The large crowds attending the obstacle run, obstacle swimming, and obstacle relay events created a unique and electrifying atmosphere in the Pentathlon Arena — set up around the obstacle course — and at the Academy pool.
Major Trond Ingvar Vognild of Norway, the CISM Director for Military Pentathlon, praised the Austrian organization: "Austria has hosted this event in a slightly different way, but this time you have truly outdone yourselves."
